    Description: View of the Bridge of Sighs, canal and gondolas in Venice
    Reference: Scott was born in Dunedin. Studied painting at the Otago School of Art and then in Paris at the Académie Julian under Benjamin Constant. Returned to Dunedin around 1902-3. Taught at the Wellington Technical College 1906-7. Moved to Sydney in 1908, then Adelaide. In 1916 he enlisted in the Australian Infantry Force and served in Flanders and the Battle of the Somme. Scott remained in England after the Armistice and exhibited at the Royal Academy. (Source: biographical note by Eric Riddler, Design & Art Australia Online).
